Huy city - fort - "the Wall"

Huy is the most important Maasstad between Namur and Liège. She developed at the location where the Maas is fortified south with the Hoyoux and north with the Méhaigne. The settlement Huy already existed in the Roman period and was in the Middle Ages a thriving trading town. Much could have had to do with the strategic location, read: there was a bridge to get over the Maas and so the rich Haspengouw grounds were connected to the Condroz and further south the Ardennes.

There is plenty to do in Huy to keep you busy for at least half a day. A great idea: follow the shells of Via Mosana through the city center, a walking path to Santiago de Compostela. It shows you the most interesting places of Huy.

Here you find the tourist event calender from Huy.
